GETTING DISTANCE FROM YOUR THOUGHTS

If you know me at all, then you know the first key to coaching with me is to pay attention to your thoughts, because what you think about, you bring about. In the words of Mike Dooley, "Thoughts become things. Choose the good ones."

And yet, sometimes thoughts may come to you that are overwhelming. They may make you feel that you are not good enough, or they may be thoughts of fear and doubt. When these thoughts arise, remember to stay in your power. Your thoughts are not you, and you can get distance from your thoughts. You can use countless techniques to do this. Just like the sun setting on a distance horizon, your thoughts are separate from you.

Imagine your thoughts encased in a colorful helium balloon. In your mind's eye, release the balloons into the endless sky. Watch them float away. Now, choose a thought that makes you feel better. Sit and give attention to that new thought. You are on your way to personal transformation!
