HOW TO KEEP CALM IN THE FACE OF ANXIETY

Sometimes it can feel like pressure is crashing in on you from all sides. There's society, your inner critic, family drama, financial matters and more.

When you are feeling anxiety well up, listen to the cues your body is giving you and take a conscious, thoughtful step.

Imagine you are viewing the scene that is causing you anxiety as if you were watching a movie. Distance yourself for a moment. Then, just like you were watching Netflix and had to leave...Press Pause!

Take a pause between the stimuli that is distressing you and your response.

You can take whatever pause works best for you. Or try one of these:


  • Consider stepping into a different space.

  • Take a conscious series of three inhalations and three exhalations.

  • Sit quietly with your thoughts and feelings.


Pause is a powerful button on your remote. Be sure to use it on yourself too!
