In this post I'm going to share 3 cool ways to stay grateful, regardless of what is happening in your life.
THE 3 COOL WAYS
What you think about, you bring about: (This is the title of the first Key in my book, (Keyed In - 7 Keys to Transform Your Life) Your thoughts are of paramount importance. That's why I made this topic the number one Key in my book. Everything in your life experience begins with a thought. Fear and worry are common cornerstones of thoughts. Fearful thoughts are generally future focused and center around what can go wrong. You may find that you frequently picture the outcome that you don't want. For example, you don't want to be late, you don't want to stumble over your words in an important meeting, you don't want to eat the cookies. Other thoughts swirl around the past and are comprised of memories or stories that bring up guilt and shame. The key is for you to become aware of your thoughts before they spin into a story that sends you into a downward spiral. With your mindful awareness, you can witness your thoughts and make a decision if they are true. Even if your greatest fear were to manifest, what can you be grateful for RIGHT NOW? This is how gratitude works it's magic. With your mindful awareness tuned into what you are grateful for, your thoughts of fear and worry begin to diminish.
What you focus upon grows: The more you think a thought, the more that thought shows up in your life, impacts your behaviors and your mental state. With that in mind, choose thoughts of gratitude! What are you thankful for about yourself? Can you identify qualities about your health, your intelligence, your creativity, your generosity, your devotion, your compassion for which you are thankful? When you are mindfully aware of qualities about yourself for which you are grateful, you will experience a shift in how your day unfolds. It is so powerful to appreciate yourself! This is a super-charged launching place from which to have new thoughts, behaviors, actions and results! Don't be shy. Break out a notebook and identify what you are grateful for in each of the categories listed above. Start your gratitude list and add to in on a regular basis. You will find the magic power of gratitude washing over your life.
Be the change you wish to experience: Step 3 of The 3 Cool Ways to stay grateful is to embody the energy of gratitude. With your keyed-in mindful awareness notice your thoughts. When your thoughts are not paving the way to the existence you crave, choose a thought of gratitude. What are you thankful for in this moment? Feel the feelings of gratitude coursing through you. When possible, close your eyes. Create an image in your mind of what you are so thankful for. Feel your heart swell with love and joy for this experience. Allow the energy of gratitude wash over you. As you embark on the next activities of your day, your energy will be vibrating at the rate of gratitude and will attract more of the same goodness into your life.
In summary to experience the power of gratitude you will need to be mindful of your fearful and worrisome thoughts, focus upon what you appreciate, and embody the energy of gratitude. With these three cool steps in place, you will be living your best life!
