The mind can be like a runaway car. Thoughts emerge and and can send you scattering in all directions. When that happens, you can lose sight of your intentions, become emotionally reactive and triggered.
I've had clients tell me they feel they are spiraling out of control! What a scary feeling. So how do you become the driver of your own mind?
The first step is to become grounded in the present moment. Use your body as a tool to unhook from your thoughts and ease into the awareness of your senses. After a few moments of mindfulness, notice your next thought. Be aware and remain empowered to choose what actions you take in response to your thoughts. If your intention is to stay focused on a project through completion, and thoughts pop up that distract you from your goal, find a way to acknowledge them and return to your project. Make the choice to take wheel and choose behaviors that support you living your best life.
