Sometimes it's physical. Feelings may arise in your gut with an ache or urgency, in your chest with heart palpitations, or in your head with dizziness or headache. Other times stress shows up in your personality and behavior. You "lose it" and yell like a toddler having a tantrum. Maybe you feed your stress, choosing to indulge in food or drink that medicates the moment, but leaves you filled with regret. The first step in finding relief from your stress is being Aware. Which of these responses to stress best describe you?
Next is your Belief. Do your beliefs limit your success? Do you believe the stress you are experiencing is unavoidable? (after all, we are living in a pandemic!) Or are you open to possibilities? Take a close look at your beliefs and see if you can broaden them.
Once you are aware that you are in a stress response, and you believe that an alternative response is viable, the next step is to Change. Choose a different action such as conscious breathing, physical movement like jumping jacks, or removing your shoes and socks and pressing you bare feet onto the ground, will cause your stress to transform.
For stress relief, be Aware, notice and expand your Beliefs, and be open to Change.
