Mental health awareness. What are you aware of in others? What really pushes your buttons or creates an anxious response in you? What you are aware of in others and what triggers you in others, is a reflection of some unfinished business within yourself.
Our own mental and emotional wellness can be difficult to witness - kind of like seeing the forest through the trees. That’s why in relationships we have the opportunity to grow. Make a list of 5 triggers you feel when your spouse, partner, child or parent says or does something. A trigger may be a physical sensation like feeling your face get hot, tightness in your chest, tension in your shoulders, a craving for sweet or salty foods as examples.
Now that you know what a trigger response may feel like in your body, recall when you felt this way and list your triggers.
What you can’t control in others comes at a cost to you. It’s your mental and emotional wellness that is at stake.
The good news is, you are powerful! You can make changes in yourself (the only one that you can change!) and start to feel better.
Boundaries, compassion, empathy and acceptance are a few concepts that come up. Do you want to get specific and tell me what’s driving you “crazy” in your life? Together we can co-create a strategy so you can live your best and most vibrant life.
