Guilt is a story of regret and shame that you tell yourself. No one can "make" you feel guilty. Guilty feelings are a choice.
Clients come to me when they feel guilt about overindulging. They may have overindulged in food or alcohol.
Feelings of guilt come up in relationships. Actions that are chosen can trigger feelings of guilt.
So how do you shift from being stuck in the story that you keep telling yourself?
How do you move past guilt and shame?
The antidote to guilt is acceptance. Accept yourself. Whatever your experience was that causes your guilty feelings is a part of you. Your guilt provides the pathway to self-acceptance.
When you accept yourself, you are more loveable to yourself and others.
Guilt happens. Allow acceptance to happen too!
